Dec 10, 2014· I wouldn't spend the money or time involved to install a v-belt drive, on an underdrive (on an overhead or horizontal you can use a regular serpentine without cutting and gluing,and they work excellent) they are a good set up, as-is, with the right belt. I use a RPC, but a friend has VFD's on his lathe, mill, and jig-bore. He loves 'em.
Helpful tip if your timing belt isnt broke when removing the upper housing its easier to remove if you cut the belt. I did this when I changed both of my belts. if your just changing the v belt you have to remove the plate off the rear pulley to remove the top.

Link belt is like a chain where the pieces overlap slightly and held in place with pins that lookm like rivets . The pins are removable so you can make it any length you need.
